new york fashion week fall 2010 : backstage beauty
new york fashion week began yesterday, and let's just say that wednesday's little blizzard didn't stand a chance against manhattan's most fashionable men and women! this season marks a final farewell to the tents at bryant park (before moving to lincoln center later this year), so designers are delivering their latest collections in full force. we can't wait to see what some of the industry's biggest names -- marc jacobs! oscar de la renta! proenza schouler! -- have come up with for next fall. let's take a look at some of the beauty looks from yesterday's shows.
erin wasson x rvca
model-turned-designer erin wasson's collaboration with california-based clothing company rvca has become a cult favorite since its inception. wasson, known for her laid-back, grunge-inspired vintage aesthetic, is an icon among countless fashion bloggers; for fall, she gave her fans more of what they love (think loose, supersoft t-shirts and denim cutoffs worn with tights, all in a neutral color palette). when it came to beauty, though, wasson stayed true to her tried and true minimalist approach. with the exception of the left eyebrow, which was darkened and feathered out, the makeup palette is pretty easy to re-create. different shades of silver eyeshadow were smudged over the eyelid and outward, and along the lower lash line (light silver in the inner corners of the eyes, and gunmetal from lid to brow bone), with a swipe of black mascara completing the look. finish with a pink blush on the apples of the cheeks and a sheer gloss. you also may want to dust off your crimping irons from the 1980s, because if a tastemaker like erin wasson thinks that crimping is cool, this look is bound to be everywhere come fall!
