ICONIC SHIRLEY TEMPLE BLACK: Hollywood's most popular bright-eyed, child star and later US diplomat.

Shirley Temple, known for her curly golden mop and dimples, started her acting career at the age of three and starred in films like Bright Eyes, Heidi, and The Little Princess, died yesterday, at the age of 85.

Credited with lifting the nation's spirits during the depression and saving what would become 20th Century Fox studios from bankruptcy, Shirley Temple appeared in over forty movies before she turned 12.

Shirley Temple will always be remembered as an iconic figure in Hollywood, the bouncy and adorable little girl with a head of curly hair, immortalized through her movies, replica dolls, and namesake grenadine drink.
